The 40 Volunteers who offer their time and expertise at Longview Home were honoured on the 10th of December at a Lunch function.  Local MP Hon. Peter Dunne was on hand to offer his congratulations on a job well done!

“We are very lucky at Longview to have the number of volunteers we do”, said Manager Olwyn Cunningham.  “More importantly the number of years they have contributed in the various areas within the Home has ensured we can offer a wide range of activities for the residents”, she said.

Four volunteers have each been with the Home for more than 20 years providing a critical link between the Home and the community.  Three Longview Home residents also volunteer their time at the Home including Arthur Barns who has offered his services for the past 20 years.

It would be very difficult to replace the hours the Volunteers contribute with paid employment.  Funding resources for aged care predominantly focuses on the provision of accommodation and the medical health care needs of residents.  The services Volunteers provide ensure the quality of life of residents is enhanced greatly.
