Four Generations celebrate NZ Children's Day

Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Kandahar Home residents and staff are bringing their teddy bears to the Home’s New Zealand Children’s Day celebration this Sunday from 2pm.

New Zealand's Children's Day is a national, non-commercial day to celebrate how special and important our children are.  The most important gift an adult can give to a child is ‘giving time’.  The Teddy Bears picnic at Kandahar Home is all about giving them a good time!

The Home has organised plenty of entertainment including pony rides, a bouncy castle, face painting, balloons with families bringing along a picnic afternoon tea to share.  The grand Teddy Bear Parade is at 3pm with various prizes for chosen categories (of course every Childs Teddy is special and so there are plenty of prizes).

The Teddy Bears picnic is also a good example of the Eden Alternative™ philosophy in practice.  “Life in a truly human community revolves around close and continuing contact with children, plants and animals”, Manager Chris Wills said.  “These ancient relationships provide young and old alike with a pathway to a life worth living”.
