Ann Sinclair Charitable Trust 2008 Organisational Grants
Presbyterian Support Central is pleased to announce grants valued over $90,000 to be distributed throughout the lower North Island through the Ann Sinclair Charitable Trust. The Ann Sinclair Charitable Trust has three categories under which grant applications are considered. Category C is for Persons or Organisations establishing or conducting Christian Camps within the lower North Island.
The Christian Fellowship for Disabled has received $4000 towards the 2008 El Rancho Camp at Waikanae the weekend of 7th -9th March. The grant will be used to keep the camp fees at a minimum as many of the participants come from low income families. Approximately 50% of the attendee’s have some form of disability and the Camp enables them to participate in fun activities such as horse riding, go-carting and canoeing.
The Wanganui branch of the Open Home Foundation of New Zealand has received $2000 towards their 2008 camping programme. The Christian Child and Family Support Service provide intensive home-based social work support and foster care to families with dependant children up to the age of 17. Many of these families are under significant stress and the Christian camping experience provides much needed relief and enjoyment for the children.
Hutt City Uniting Congregations receive a $4000 grant for an Easter Camp for 80 Tongan Youth from Tawa. The Easter Camp theme is “Not an ending, but a beginning” and focuses on providing an understanding of Easter based on Christian tradition.
$3000 has been granted to Taranaki Dynamite Bay Children’s Ministry towards their 2008 camping programme. The grant provides support and sponsorship for children aged between 8-14 years. Many of the children are underprivileged and wouldn’t be able to attend the camp without sponsorship. The 2008 camping programme will provide five different camps throughout the year.
Distributions from the Ann Sinclair Charitable Trust are made by Presbyterian Support Central annually towards the end of the year. The closing date for applications is 31 October.
