Coactive Collaborative Disability Services

Coactive is the disability support service of Presbyterian Support Northern. We aim to lessen the impact of disability by providing reliable, flexible home and community based support for disabled people.

Our service is aligned with the New Zealand Government’s Disability Strategy to focus on improving choice and control in the lives of disabled people.

Coactive is free to disabled people living in Central and South Auckland referred by Taikura Trust or ACC.

Coactive was developed in response to feedback from disabled people. They told us that they require a reliable, consistent and flexible service. From this, the vision for the service was formed.

Our vision is of a non-disabling society. We strive to support our clients by providing a service where they:

  • have real choices and feel in control;
  • are satisfied with the quality of service;
  • are supported by trained and suitable staff;
  • are involved as much as possible.

Our objectives are to provide a service where clients have:

  • an ongoing and valued partner relationship with Coactive;
  • a robust support plan, built around goals and essential supports, which is flexible and able to be changed;
  • the ability to decide their own level of preferred decision-making;
  • ready access to the Service Manager, whose role is to ensure quality support is provided, address any issues in a timely way and ensure cover is provided in the event of leave (expected or unexpected).

Coactive provides support to disabled people no matter what level of care they require. Our trained staff develop individually-tailored support plans with clients and their families, giving them choices and involving them in all decisions.

Our clients currently include:

  • Disabled adults 65 years and under
  • Disabled children
  • People with short-term injuries
  • Private clients and disabled people visiting Auckland
  • People who govern their own services
