Under the Government-funded Social Workers in Schools programme we have 22 social workers operating in 44 schools in our region.
Our areas of focus include:
-
increasing confidence and self-esteem
-
overcoming problematic behaviour
-
further developing parenting skills
-
coping with grief and loss
-
making blended families work
-
overcoming the effects of abuse
We use a strengths-based approach and offer support to all in the community regardless of race, beliefs or background.
Children and families are referred to our service from government and/or community agencies, schools or health professionals - or they self-refer.
After initial discussion and needs assessment Family Works Northern will assist children and/or families to develop a plan to achieve the outcome(s) they want.
Families are asked to make a voluntary contribution/koha towards the provision of our services and programmes.
