Celebrating 90 years in South Canterbury
Our celebration week was held in May 2008. What a great week it was too! Each facility had a celebration (photos to come on this web page).
This is what we did:
Monday 5th May - Family Works - Open day - at The Homestead, 12 Park Lane, Timaru. Our team were there to greet visitors and explain exactly what Family Works is all about and how we can help. There were static and powerpoint displays on all our services along with information which could be taken away. People were also invited to have a look through the rooms and of course there was celebration cake to share.
Tuesday 6th May - Croft Celebrations (12 Park Lane, Timaru)
Afternoon tea and reminiscing. Jim Pearce (the Chairman of our Board) welcomed everyone and we had our newest staff member and a resident who has been here the longest, both cut the cake. Previous staff members toured the facilities and saw the changes as well as catching up with old friends.
Wednesday 7th May - Margaret Wilson Complex (27 Seddon Street, Timaru)
Afternoon tea reminiscing with old friends. The staff really got in the mood and dressed in old uniforms for the occassion. Kaye Hancox (Nurse Manager) looked delightful dressed as 'Matrons' used to be dressed. The plans for the upgrade were on display.
Thursday 8th May
Wallingford Rest Home (Cnr Cass and Allnatt Streets, Temuka)
Local entertainer Noel Burns entertained the crowd, followed by speeches and cutting of the cake. People got to reminisce about the past and we also had the plans for their upgrade on display.
Friday 9th May
Presbyterian Support Official Celebrations
It was wonderful too see so many here. We had photos on display for people to look thru. Mr Allan Hubbard was our key speaker for the evening and had some wonderful stories to share.
Sunday 11th May
Church Service - 9:45am St Pauls Church, Seddon Street, Timaru (Rev Michael Kerr as guest preacher)
