Support Us - How You Can Help
Become a Volunteer
We need people with a wide variety of skills, talents, interests and abilities, including: patience, a sense of humour, a willingness to learn, and the ability to relate well to others.
Anyone with a few hours to spare and who has the interest, desire and commitment to share in and enhance the well being of our residents and clients has the potential to be a Presbyterian Support volunteer.
Volunteers continue to play a vital role in the development of our organisation and are an integral part of our work. Without our committed volunteers we could not offer the range of services we do.
Volunteers help with a number of activities across our range of services, including:
- Residential Services for Older People.
Assisting with the recreational activities program, driving vans for residents' outings, reading, befriending/companionship and providing entertainment.
- Supportlink.
Providing support to people living in the community, helping them maintain their independence by providing friendship, helping with shopping, relieving caregivers etc.
- Family Works.
The main group of volunteers for this part of our service are "Big Buddies". After training the volunteers are matched to children in need of additional adult support. They then spend time together on a regular basis sharing interests and activities and developing a normal adult child relationship.
- General Areas.
Serving as Board Members and assisting with fundraising and other projects. This can be either individual help or help through service and other groups.
Volunteers get a great deal of satisfaction by giving something back to their community. Many also develop long term friendship with other volunteers and those they help. If you would like to learn more about becoming a volunteer or if you have any questions please contact the Manager of Community Services on (03) 214-4202.
