We believe everybody
deserves to enjoy life,
whatever their age
Enliven hosts a number of day guest programmes for older people living in their own homes or with family members in the community.
These programmes give you a chance to get out of the house and for your usual carers or family to take a break.
Attendees tell us they enjoy socialising with others at a similar stage in life and opportunities to keep active, and take part in a variety of fun and engaging activities. These activities vary depending on what the attendees are interested in, but popular activities include sight-seeing trips, bowling, themed parties, gentle exercise classes, arts and craft, shared meals and men’s sheds.
Enliven Central Social Clubs are currently available in:
- New Plymouth at Chalmers Home
- Whanganui at Kowhainui Home
- Feilding at Coombrae Home
- Wairarapa (Masterton) at Kandahar Home and Kandahar Court
- Levin at Reevedon Home
- Paraparaumu at Kapiti Cottage
- Lower Hutt at Woburn Home
- Wellington (Berhampore) at Kilmarnock Heights Home.
In Paraparaumu and Masterton we’re also able to offer specialised programmes tailored to suit people experiencing dementia or having problems remembering things.
What are our day guests saying?
“I’ve been coming to the day activity programme for seven years now and I love it so much that I have only ever missed a few sessions. I look forward to it every week and have made some really good friends.” – Ida, Wellington.
“It’s a good way for me to keep active even though I’m not very mobile anymore…We have a laugh and I get on well with the blokes that I have met there.” – Bob, Kapiti.
“My wife does a lot for me at home as I’m not as mobile as I used to be. It’s tiring for her so I come to Kilmarnock Heights on Wednesdays and Thursdays to give her a break.” – Ken, Wellington.
