Your pet is welcome to move in with you if it ‘gets on’ with other people and animals and your grandchildren and other family are always welcome to visit. If you’re a gardener we have plenty of space and if you’re a cook, our chef is always looking for a helping hand! There is also a high level of family and community involvement at Huntleigh Home. Residents are welcome to entertain visitors at any time.
A life worth living
A highlight for many residents is the social life. As well as enjoying the company of others at a similar stage of life, Huntleigh Home residents get involved in organising and enjoying daily happenings and special events – making for a varied social calendar! The constantly changing programme includes plenty of creativity and fun activities such as sight-seeing trips, classical concerts, craft and sewing, gardening projects, themed parties, high-tea, café visits and bbqs in the courtyard. Residents are encouraged to invite their family and friends to enjoy the various lounges, gardens and courtyards, or join them for a meal.

At Huntleigh Home you’ll enjoy the community feel, shared lounges, entertaining areas and secure central gardens. But of course, you’ll also have your own private room. This is your space.
The modern rooms can be furnished, but residents are invited to make the space their own. You can bring along your own familiar furniture and furnishings. Many residents bring along photos, artwork, ornaments, furniture and bed covers.
We’re also able to offer some premium rooms. These rooms are larger with ensuite and kitchenette options.
For family or friends visiting from out of town we’re able of offer an ensuite bedroom unit at Enliven Central’s neighbouring Huntleigh Retirement Apartments for a small cost (subject to availability).
Our staff are not only highly trained, they’re also friendly, caring and embrace an elder-directed philosophy of care. Residents at Huntleigh Home also tell us they enjoy the consistency and familiarity of our staff.
At Huntleigh Home nurses are on-duty 24-hours-a-day. Our doctor (GP) visits at least twice per week and we are in regular contact to ensure all clinical needs are met. We have a podiatrist and a physiotherapist that visit weekly, and we can organise for other health professionals to visit if required.
Huntleigh Home also has on on-site salon. The hairdresser visits two days each week.
Huntleigh Home’s rest home level care provides you with the very best in clinical care in an engaging and caring environment.
Huntleigh Home’s hospital level services are similar to rest home care, but focus on supporting residents with complex clinical needs. Enliven’s highly trained staff are able to care for most medical conditions.
Respite and Convalescent Care
Enliven’s Huntleigh Home also welcomes older people who require short term care and support. This may be when your usual carer or family member needs a break or following surgery or illness.
During your stay, you’ll enjoy your own furnished room, shared lounges and delicious meals in the dining room or your room. You’re also invited to take part in any of the activities and residents outings.
The Day Programme at Huntleigh Home
The Day Programme at Enliven Central’s Huntleigh Home is is for people living in the community, either on their own or with a carer.
The programme will give you opportunities to socialise with others at a similar stage in life and take part in a variety of fun and engaging activities. Activities include sight-seeing trips, guest entertainers, themed parties, arts, craft, music and cooking. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided.
Huntleigh Home’s Day Programme runs every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 4pm. The programme can be paid for privately, although subsidies are often available through the District Health Board.
The Huntleigh Guest Studio at Huntleigh Home and Apartments is perfect for family and friends visiting from out of town.
The studio unit can accommodate two people for short-term stays. This top quality, affordable unit is fully furnished and equipped with either a queen bed or two single beds, en-suite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities and a television. Linnen is also provided.
During your stay you can visit your loved at any time; there are no set visiting hours. You can take part in recreation activities and social outings, join your loved one for meals, and venture to the local shopping centre just a five minute walk away.
Accessing our services
Accessing any of our services is easy. You can be referred by a doctor or Needs Assessment Agency, or you can call us directly.
Our services can be paid for privately, or you may be eligible for a subsidy from Capital and Coast District Health Board.
