The Kandahar difference
Enliven Central embraces the Eden Alternative – an elder-directed model of care. At Kandahar Court you’ll be supported to maintain your independence and routines, and to continue with your hobbies, interests and passions.
Your pet is welcome to move in with you if it ‘gets on’ with other people and animals and your grandchildren and other family are always welcome to visit. If you’re a gardener we have plenty of space and if you’re a cook, our chef is always looking for a helping hand! There is also a high level of family and community involvement at Kandahar Court. Residents are welcome to entertain visitors at any time – we don’t have set visiting hours here!
A life worth living
A highlight for many residents is the social life. As well as enjoying the company of others at a similar stage of life, Kandahar Court residents get involved in organising daily happenings and special events – making the most of the varied social calendar. The meaningful and stimulating calendar of activities is tailored to meet individual needs and interests. Regular activities include sight-seeing trips, guest entertainers, arts, craft, picnics and meals out.
Residents are encouraged to invite their family and friends to enjoy the various lounges, gardens and courtyards, or join them for a meal.
Your place. Your space.
At Kandahar Court you’ll enjoy the community feel, shared lounges, entertaining areas and secure central gardens. But of course, you’ll also have your own private room. This is your space.
The modern rooms can be furnished, but residents are invited to make the space their own. You can bring along your own familiar furniture and furnishings. Many residents bring along photos, artwork, ornaments, furniture and bed covers.
Kandahar Court staff have undergone specialist training in supporting people with dementia and their families. But importantly, they’re also friendly, caring and embrace an elder-directed philosophy of care.
We have nurses available every day, the home’s GP visits at least twice a week and we are in regular contact to ensure all clinical needs are met. Of course, if you have other health needs, such as physiotherapy, we’re usually able to arrange for a health professional to visit you at Kandahar Court.
Residential dementia care
At Kandahar Court residents continue to actively participate in normal life activities, such as gardening, watching the rugby or even hanging out the washing, whilst remaining safe in a secure, purpose-built home.
Respite and Day Activity Programmes
Caring for a family member with dementia at home can be a demanding job. It is common for both the person and the carer to experience times of stress and frustration. Sometimes everyone needs a break to refresh.
Enliven Central’s Kandahar Court can offer you a safe and caring environment to spend time either during the day, overnight or for a short ‘holiday’. During this time we’re sure you’ll enjoy socialising with other residents and getting involved with the varied activity programme.
Rest home and hospital care
Kandahar Court’s sister site Kandahar Home, also by Enliven Central, offers rest home and hospital level care services. Like Kandahar Court residents, the residents at Kandahar Home enjoy the very best in clinical care in an engaging and caring environment. If a Kandahar Court resident develops more complex clinical needs they’re able to easily transition to the hospital services at Kandahar Home, just around the corner.
