Enliven Central’s Kandahar Home is situated on spacious grounds in Roberts Road, Lansdowne, Masterton. Residents enjoy the home’s character features and warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The Kandahar difference
Enliven Central embraces the Eden Alternative – an elder-directed model of care. At Kandahar you’ll be supported to maintain your independence and routines, and to continue with your hobbies, interests and passions.
Your pet is welcome to move in with you if it ‘gets on’ with other people and animals and your grandchildren and other family are always welcome to visit. If you’re a gardener we have plenty of space and if you’re a cook, our chef is always looking for a helping hand! There is also a high level of family and community involvement at Kandahar Home. Residents are welcome to entertain visitors at any time – there are no set visiting hours here!
Enjoy the social life
A highlight for many residents is the social life. As well as enjoying the company of others at a similar stage of life, Kandahar Home residents get involved in organising daily happenings and special events – making for a varied social calendar. The constantly changing programme includes activities such as sight-seeing trips, guest entertainers, arts, craft, picnics and meals out. Residents are encouraged to invite their family and friends to enjoy the various lounges, gardens and courtyards, or join them for a meal. This can be served either in one of the lounges, in the shared dining room or in the privacy of your room.
Your place. Your space.
At Kandahar Home you’ll enjoy the community feel, shared lounges, entertaining areas and lovely grounds and gardens. But of course, you’ll also have your own private room. This is your space.
The refurbished rooms can be furnished, but residents are invited to make the space their own. You can bring along your own familiar furniture and furnishings. Many residents bring along photos, artwork, ornaments, furniture and bed covers.
Kandahar Home staff are not only highly trained, they’re also friendly, caring and embrace an elder-directed philosophy of care.
We have nurses on-duty 24-hours-a-day. The home’s GP (from Masterton Medical Centre) visits at least twice a week and we are in regular contact to ensure all clinical needs are met. Of course, if you have other health needs, such as physiotherapy, we’re usually able to arrange for a health professional to visit you at Kandahar Home.
Kandahar Home’s rest home level care provides you with the very best in clinical care in an engaging and caring environment.
Kandahar Home’s hospital level services are similar to rest home care, but focus on supporting residents with complex clinical needs.
Kandahar Home caters for people with varying degrees of memory loss or dementia. However, if you need a more secure place to keep you safe from wandering Kandahar Home’s sister site Kandahar Court is able to provide that. Enliven’s nearby Kandahar Court is a purpose-built home for people with dementia. It includes secure gardens and courtyards so you can enjoy the outdoors while staying safely within the grounds.
