Levin Home, for War Veterans and friends, is a rest home with a difference. Offering specialist care for the men and women who have fought for our freedom and cared for our country, Levin Home has a rich history and a vibrant future.
The Enliven difference
Enliven Central embraces the Eden Alternative – an elder-directed model of care. At Levin Home you’ll be supported to maintain your independence and routines, and to continue with your hobbies, interests and passions.
Your pet is welcome to move in with you if it ‘gets on’ with other people and animals, your grandchildren and other family are always welcome to visit, if you’re a gardener we have plenty of space and if you’re a cook, our chef is always looking for a helping hand! There is also a high level of family and community involvement at Levin Home. Residents are welcome to entertain visitors at any time.
Enjoy the social life
A highlight for many residents is the social life. As well as enjoying the company of others at a similar stage of life, Levin Home residents get involved in organising daily activities and special events – making the most of the varied social calendar.
Regular activities and events include the popular Veterans Arms, card games, sight-seeing trips, guest entertainers, craft, themed parties and gardening. Residents are encouraged to invite their family and friends to enjoy the various lounges, gardens and courtyards, or join them for a meal.
Your place. Your space.
At Levin Home you’ll enjoy the community feel, shared lounges, entertaining areas and secure central gardens. But of course, you’ll also have your own private room. This is your space.
The large rooms can be furnished, but residents are invited to make the space their own. You can bring along your own familiar furniture and furnishings. Many residents bring along photos, artwork, ornaments, furniture and bed covers.
We’re also able to offer some premium rooms. These rooms have ensuite, kitchenette and outside access options.
Our staff are not only highly trained, they’re also friendly, caring and embrace an elder-directed philosophy of care.
At Levin Home nurses are on-duty 24-hours-a-day. Our doctor (GP) visits at least twice per week and we are in regular contact to ensure all clinical needs are met. Of course, if you have other health needs, such as physiotherapy, we can usually arrange for a health professional to visit Levin Home.
Levin Home’s rest home level care provides you with the very best in clinical care in an engaging and caring environment.
Levin Home’s hospital level services are similar to rest home care, but focus on supporting residents with complex clinical needs. Enliven Central’s highly trained staff are able to care for most medical conditions.
The experience of dementia can cause stress, frustration and even depression for both the person experiencing dementia and their family. Levin Home can provide a range of services to support people with dementia and their families.
At Levin Home, you’ll be supported to keep up your daily routines, hobbies and pastimes, whilst remaining safe in a secure, purpose-built home. We’re sure you’ll enjoy the community feel, stimulating atmosphere, and secure central gardens.
Respite and Convalescent Care
Enliven’s Levin Home for War Veterans also welcomes older people who require short-term care and support. This may be when your usual carer or family member needs a break or following surgery or illness.
During your stay, you’ll enjoy your own furnished room, shared lounges and delicious meals in the dining room or your room. You’re also invited to take part in any of the activities and residents outings.
Reevedon Home’s Day Guest Programme
Levin Home’s sister site – Reevedon Home, also in Levin, runs a Day Guest Programme for people living in their own homes, or with family members. The programme will give you opportunities to socialise with others at a similar stage in life and take part in a variety of fun and engaging activities. Activities include sight-seeing trips, guest entertainers, themed parties, arts, craft, music and cooking. Reevedon Home’s day programme runs every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The Veterans Arms
Residents of Levin Home established the Veterans Arms in early 2014. The social club is run by residents who invite family, friends and members of the community to attend each month. Attendees enjoy entertainment, a meal, refreshments, as well as pool, cars and even the occasional sing-along. The New Zealand flag holds pride of place, but the room is also adorned with RSA memorabilia and includes a bar, café style seating and comfy lounge chairs.
The Family Apartment at Levin Home for War Veterans is perfect for family and friends visiting from out of town.
With three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a separate kitchen and a lounge and dining area, the Family Apartment at Levin Home for War Veterans is perfect for a short-term stay.
During your visit you can visit your loved at any time; there are no set visiting hours. You can take part in recreation activities and social outings, join your loved one for meals, and venture to Levin’s shopping centre.
