Enliven, part of the not-for-profit organisation Presbyterian Support Central, is excited to announce plans to redevelop its Kilmarnock Heights Home site in Berhampore with a unique new rest home and retirement village.
Presbyterian Support Central lodged resource consent last week to develop a 72 bed rest home and hospital and up to 58 retirement apartments.
CEO Chris Graham explains the first stage of development would be to rebuild the home.
“We’ll build the new, purpose-built facility in front of the existing home so our current residents living arrangements won’t be disrupted. Then we’ll look to build up to 58 retirement apartments.”
Chris says Enliven wants to ensure the development is something special.
“The focus is on developing a facility that is more than bricks and mortar; instead Enliven wants to develop a truly person-centred community.”
He believes the project is a positive one for the area and hopes the community will back it.
“There are not a lot of retirement living options in the area and this development will mean Enliven can provide a full continuum of care to the local community, including retirement living, in-home support, rest home and hospital level care. It gives people more options to stay in a place they love as their needs change.”
He says the development will also be reflective of the surrounding environment.
“As we’ve put together these plans we’ve been very mindful of fitting in with the surrounding residential environment and the neighboring town belt.”
Progress updates will be posted on Enliven’s website, right here!
