Making Aotearoa New Zealand
the best place to raise children
in flourishing families
Spending time alone can be relaxing and invigorating, but if being alone is making you feel lonely, unsupported, isolated, anxious or even depressed Family Works may be able to help.
Sometimes these feelings come from being physically separated from your support networks – like when you move away from your family and friends, live in a remote location or physically find it difficult to get out of the house. At other times the feeling of isolation may be a perception – like when you’re feeling left out or you’re avoiding contact with other people.
Family Works Central hosts a number of fun support groups, including:
- Wisdom and Wellbeing for older people in the South Wairarapa
- New Settlers Group for people who are new to New Zealand and living in the Hutt Valley or Wellington.
These groups are not funded by government. We rely solely on the generosity and support of the community and volunteers to run these groups. Click here to make a donation to Family Works Central or call 0508 TO HELP (that’s 0508 86 4357).
Family Works Central is also able to provide counselling services if the feeling of loneliness is being unmanageable or you’re feeling like you don’t want to be in social situations.
