Twenty-eight staff from Enliven’s Kandahar Home and sister-site Kandahar Court have been recognised for their long service and training accomplishments.

On Wednesday 1 July, staff from the Enliven homes gathered at Kandahar Home for the award ceremony and afternoon tea celebration.

Diane McCuish, who has worked at Kandahar Home for 15 years as a healthcare assistant, says Enliven employees are encouraged to upskill and deepen their knowledge which is part of the reason why she has worked at the home for so long.

“Enliven would be one of the best employers I’ve had – they are very keen to get you into training if you express your interest in upskilling. It’s just great because there’s heaps of support and people believe in you,” says Diane.

“I have achieved my level three National Certificate in Community Support Services training and I have just started my training in diversional therapy. Becoming a recreation officer has always been a goal of mine and I’m grateful that I’ve been given the opportunity.”

Kandahar Home manager Mike Keyworth says 16 staff were recognised for their five, 10, 15 or 25 years of service, while 14 were recognised for their training achievements with Careerforce, including two staff who were recognised for both.

“We believe it’s important to congratulate, celebrate and show our appreciation for these dedicated staff members,” says Mike.

He says the support for the staff was demonstrated by the large turnout of their colleagues and representatives from Careerforce and Enliven.

“Every day the staff help improve the day-to-day living of residents at both Kandahar Home and Kandahar Court, and residents often tell me how fantastic the staff are and how much they appreciate what they do for them. It was a good chance to formerly thank them for their work.”

Enliven’s Kandahar Home and Kandahar Court provide a full range of positive ageing services including rest home, hospital, and dementia care, retirement units, as well as short-term respite and health recovery care.
