Making Aotearoa New Zealand
the best place to raise children
in flourishing families
A career in social work was the obvious choice for Nici Nixon, who says her love for helping families in need has only grown stronger throughout her career.
Nici, who has been a qualified social worker for 25 years, started at Family Works Central two years ago as Practice Leader before moving into her new role as Regional Manager this month.
“I really enjoy working with people and problem solving, and I have always been able to see the potential in people who may not have had the opportunities and support to move forward, develop and grow. Social work seemed like the obvious choice and working with children and families has been a real passion for me.”
Nici juggles her time between Family Works Featherston, Upper Hutt and Central office each week in her busy new role.
“I manage our contracts, lead the delivery and the staff team, promote the services that Family Works offers, and ensure our services have positive outcomes and are delivered professionally to a high standard.”
She says she is looking forward to developing some new Family Works projects.
“With this role there’s the opportunity to develop exciting new projects and to ensure our current contracts are being developed well, not to mention getting out and about to develop relationships with other providers and government agencies.”
