deserves to enjoy life,
whatever their age
Life is almost worry free for Masterton’s Kath Taylor following a move to Enliven’s Kandahar Home.
Kath has lived at the Lansdowne home for eight months and says she chose to make the move because she wanted peace of mind and security.
“I was living by myself and I was having a lot of falls. I didn’t do any real damage, but it was just a matter of time,” Kath explains.
“It was a bit dangerous living on my own; I felt that I needed more help. I feel much more secure living here.”
When Kath decided it was time to move into a rest home she looked at all Masterton had to offer before choosing Kandahar for its less-clinical, more homely and welcoming feel.
“I liked the place and the feel of it. It’s very homely.”
Other than enjoying peace of mind living at Kandahar Home, Kath says she also enjoys the social aspects.
“There are activities happening every day and I’ve made a lot of friends – there are some real characters living here,” says Kath.
“I have a cousin who lives in Kandahar’s rental units next door so I see her a lot – she comes over to the home for lunch every day.”
Kath also gets out and about a lot, spending time with her five sisters who also live in Masterton.
“I go out regularly and do things with my sisters. My family thinks it’s marvelous me living here. I’m happy I chose to come here.”
Enliven’s Kandahar Home and sister site Kandahar Court provide a full spectrum of rest home support including, rest home, hospital, and dementia care as well as rental retirement units.
