We believe everybody
deserves to enjoy life,
whatever their age
Three of Enliven’s Wellington homes are opening their doors to the community this summer.
Cashmere Home and Cashmere Heights Home, situated in Helston Road in Johnsonville, are holding a combined celebration and open day from 2pm to 4.30pm on Thursday 12 February. Meanwhile, Huntleigh Home and Apartments in Karori is preparing for the inaugural Huntleigh Summer Fete to be held on Saturday 21 February.
Cashmere homes manager Aileen Oliver explains the homes have plenty of reason to celebrate this month, including Cashmere Home being officially presented with full certification by the Eden Alternative Board.
“Eden is an elder-directed model of care, which means that the home truly belongs to the residents and we are here to support them. It’s very hard to obtain and maintain all 10 principles and Cashmere Home is the second hospital-level facility in New Zealand to do so,” says Aileen.
“There will be a magician, a sweet shop, a barbeque, a coffee shop, a pampering booth with manicures, face painting, a photo booth, musicians and Mr Whippy is going to visit both sites.”
The following week, it will be Huntleigh Home and Apartments’ turn to open its doors to the community with the home’s inaugural summer fete.
The fete, being held in the home’s courtyard and carpark, is happening on Saturday 21 February from 1pm to 3.30pm. Fete goers can expect all the usual fair activity, including fun for the kids, bake sales, raffles, bric-a-brac, a sausage sizzle, a car wash, a plant sale, Devonshire tea and more.
Local residents are invited to join the fun at Enliven’s homes. The Cashmere Street Party will be held at 16 and 51 Helston Road, Johnsonville. Huntleigh Home’s Summer Fete will be held at 221 Karori Road in Karori.
