About Presbyterian Support Central (PSC)
Building safe, strong and connected communities.
A not-for-profit organisation
We support and care for all people at the most vulnerable times of their lives, to make a lasting and positive difference in times of need.
Our services for tamariki and whānau are delivered through Family Works, while older people are supported through Enliven – each with specialist teams offering person-centred, culturally responsive and professional care.
We are powered by more than 1,000 dedicated staff and hundreds of incredible volunteers. Together, we’re committed to upholding the mana and dignity of every person we serve.
A proud legacy of care and community
Our roots trace back to supporting children in need. In the early 1950s, PSC expanded into elder care, opening its first rest home in Island Bay, Wellington in 1951. What began as ‘Services for the Elderly’ became Enliven in 2008 – today one of New Zealand’s most trusted aged care and retirement village providers, with 14 care homes and 9 retirement villages.
In 1976, the Wellington Counselling Centre was established and later became Family Works. Since then, we’ve evolved from children’s homes to a modern, multi-disciplinary social services provider supporting the wellbeing of families, parents, and communities.
We continue to grow and adapt to meet the changing needs of Aotearoa.
Part of something bigger
PSC is one of seven autonomous regions that form Presbyterian Support New Zealand. While we operate independently from the Presbyterian Church, our name reflects our proud heritage and the shared values that guide us.
We are here to uplift lives, empower communities and ensure every person feels seen, supported and valued.
